MV ELLIS knows what it’s like to fall head over heels in love with a badass musician. She followed her heart halfway around the world to be with one. She moved from London to Sydney after a steamy holiday romance with a sexy bass player in sultry Brazil.

Twelve years, two children and a dog later, and she’s still smitten. All this with a guy she sat next to on a bus for 36 hours! She has toured internationally as a “WAG,” and her experiences inspire her writing.
Ellis’s love of romance began when she was 11 years old, after a summer spent secretly reading her auntie’s books. She’s been a sucker for an alpha hero and strong heroine ever since.

An avid reader, Ellis always knew she’d write a book of her own one day. She was right about that. Following a career spanning advertising, marketing, and social media, she finally wrote Catching London in 2017.

Fund raising auction for Lauren Smith

Image may contain: 6 people, wedding and outdoor

I want to tell you about Lauren Smith. She is the daughter of Tracie Podger's best friend. She's thirty-two and has five children ranging in age from fourteen to two. Lauren has breast cancer. She possibly has the BRCA gene that has mutated. It's not good, not good at all.

Lauren has 18 weeks of chemo, a double mastectomy, hysterectomy, and radiotherapy to look forward to. One of her children, one of the youngest, cried when she was told that Lauren was going to lose her hair. She didn't want her mum to look like a boy. So Tracie is raising money to stop Lauren looking like a boy. She wants to buy her two real hair wigs and she has done this by organising an online book auction. Any spare funds will go towards a break for Lauren and her kids so they can make some memories.

This started with just a couple of author friends, there are now over 100 lots to bid on and the list is still growing.

The event was supposed to be just one day, it's now running from Saturday to Wednesday.

She knocked on the front door and held her breath. She could hear muffled voices on the other side. The door opened and Ben stood in the entryway, startled.

‘Belle? What are you doing here?’ His voice was a whisper as he stole a nervous glance back inside the house, then closed the door behind him. ‘You shouldn’t be here,’ he said to her.

‘We need to talk, Ben.’

He reached for her hand and led her down the path to the front gate, out to the BMW, where he leant against the shiny polished exterior, stealing skittish glances back toward the house.

He was in blue jeans and a white Ralph Lauren polo shirt. He was barefoot, his hair soft and brown, his deep blue eyes the colour of the ocean, eyes that she could still get lost in, even after all these years. He ran a hand over his smooth jawline and he smelt of Gucci Guilty. Somewhat fitting.

‘Why have you been ignoring me?’ she asked.

‘Oh, besides the fact that you bombarded me with a thousand calls last night?’ he retorted.

Belle straightened her shoulders. ‘That’s unfair. I was upset. Can you blame me?’

He sighed. His shoulders sagged and he held up his hands in apology. ‘No, you’re right. Sorry. I shouldn’t have said that.’ He looked down at the ground. ‘I guess I didn’t know what to say to you. I didn’t mean for you to walk in on us like that. It’s not how I wanted you to find out.’

‘Who is she?’

‘Her name is Olivia.’

‘How long has it been going on?’

‘A month, maybe two. I don’t know,’ he said to the ground, his big toe playing with a pebble on the grass.

‘You shouldn’t have gone to see my father this morning. You should’ve spoken to me first.’

He smiled; a boyish smile that still melted her heart. ‘I’m sorry. It’s just that I wanted your dad to know what I’d done. I wanted to be the one to tell him. You’re right, though. I should’ve talked to you first.’

‘So, let’s talk.’

BLOG TOUR, REVIEW & #GIVEAWAY - Devil's Gold (Black Rose Mystery #1) by Amanda McKinney

Book details:

Devil’s Gold
by Amanda McKinney
Publication date: February 13th 2018
Genres: Adult, Mystery, Thriller

Synopsis:

Despite being chronically late, occasionally disheveled and a tad disorganized, Dixie Knight is one of the top private investigators in the country, and when a young woman goes missing in the small, Southern town of Devil’s Den, Dixie takes the case. She expected it to be another ordinary missing person case—until Lizzie Meyers is found naked and beaten to death at a local, seedy motel.

While visiting relatives on his two-week leave, Marine Liam Cash bumps into Dixie at the local bar, and his attraction to her is immediate. When Liam connects Dixie’s current case to two unsolved murders in his hometown, he steps in to help find the killer, and keep her safe, whether Dixie wants him to or not.

After another woman is found brutally beaten, Dixie turns the town upside down trying to solve the mystery—could it be the rumored witch that lives in the mountains; the rich, neurotic doctor’s wife; or the perky, blonde receptionist at the local medical clinic?

Time is running out and Dixie knows she has to put the pieces of the puzzle together before another body turns cold in Devil’s Den.

4 out of 5 (very good)

Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

This is only short, just over an hour reading time for me, some 120 pages, but it packs quite a punch!

Dixie is the middle sister of three, running their father's investigation agency. She's good at it, even if she is the least put together of her sisters. Liam is in town visiting relatives, and when their paths cross, it's a proper "eyes across a crowded room" moment. When Dixie puts herself in danger, Liam knows he can't let her go, and he will do anything to see her safe.

Like I said, quite a punch!! Very pleasantly surprised, I have to say!

I have to admit, I did not see the whodunnit coming at me, so that was well played!

There is just enough hints and clues to make you think, well just who DID kill these four women.? Just enough heat and passion to make you fan a little. Just enough of just about everyone to make you want to know MORE about these people!

Because that's my overwhelming feeling I'm left with, I want MORE! Whether it's Liam and Dix, or Dixie's sisters, or co-workers (cos Ace is quite a character!)  or even just more from this writer, I don't know, but that is what I want. MORE!

Filed firmly on the hangover shelf, because that's what I used it as and it certainly did the trick.

So, Ms McKinney, *holding up open hands with puppy dog eyes* more please!

4 solid stars

BLOG TOUR, EXCERPT & #GIVEAWAY - Grinders Corner by Ferris H. Craig and Charlene Keel

GENRE:

Romantic Comedy

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Grinders Corner explores the world of taxi dance halls in the 1960s in all its raw hilarity.  Saucy, sassy and sexy, but not the least bit erotic, it follows the adventures of three young women trying to survive in the glitter palaces of Los Angeles.
Like lambs led to the slaughter, Uptown, a newly divorced English major with panic anxiety disorder and no job skills, Voluptua, an out of work actress, and Mouse, a former child star trying to make a comeback all struggle to make enough tickets to pay the bills. Things get complicated when Uptown falls in love with a customer who happens to be a priest.
In Grinders Corner it was a simpler time, long before gentlemen’s clubs and pole dancers, and it happened in a place where shy, lonely men could talk to women, even dance with them, with no fear of rejection—for about fifteen cents a minute.
The next night, Voluptua made her appearance at Romanceland.  I didn’t expect to see my lover for a night or two—I had a feeling he would need time to recover—so I was able to give this girl my complete attention.  Well, almost.
Though Voluptua was not her real name, it suited her perfectly.  She was bursting out all over with robust voluptuousness in a polka-dotted micro mini dress that was about two sizes too small.  Her tinted black hair was piled high in a gigantic pouf of tangles, and she had coaxed the sides into loosely formed braids.  Into one of these braids she had stuck an artificial blue flower.  She was wearing opera hose—the kind with the seam down the back.  And some kind of silky blue dancing slippers that had no backs—only toes—so they made a clacking noise, slapping against her feet, as she walked.  But she didn’t walk.  She floated.  Honest!  She’d float by, her shoes clacking softly, her arms out, in a pose like a tired ballet dancer.
I thought she was out of her mind.
On Voluptua’s second night, she showed up looking like a wellendowed Cleopatra.  I couldn’t believe my eyes.  She had draped an exotic looking necklace from one side of her head to the other, so that it hung down with the largest of its many colored stones placed between her eyebrows.  And she had extended her black eyeliner about one inch beyond what seemed reasonable.
Her earrings dangled to her shoulders and they, too, were comprised of multicolored beads.  Coiled around the upper section of her arm was a golden snake with ruby red beads for eyes.  Her clinging jersey mini dress was printed with large brown leopard spots.  Underneath all this dubious splendor she was wearing a black leotard—you know, the kind professional dancers wear.  Apropos of the Egyptian motif, she had used bronze makeup on her face and her lipstick was redder than red.  And it wasn’t even Halloween!
The braids and the artificial blue flower of the night before were gone.  Protruding from the mass of tangles, which were still there, was what appeared to be a long hairpiece.  It was all combed to one side so that it hung over her shoulder and down over one of her more than ample breasts.  Wow, I thought, will she get tickets!  Even our boss, Dirty Dick, was staring down at her from his dais-like desk.
Book details:
Wicked Soul
by Nora Ash
(Ancient Blood, #1)
Publication date: February 10th 2017
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance
Synopsis:
He saved me… And then he blood-bonded me. Now I’m his.
My first meeting with a Chicago vampire went better than expected.
Up until that night, all I knew about vampires was limited to a few common facts: they drink blood, they get a mean sunburn and if you find yourself alone with one, you’re dead.
Except he didn’t kill me.
Sexy, broody Warin clearly had his own reasons for sparing my life and tying me with his blood, but if he’d known how much trouble I’d attract, I bet he wouldn’t have bothered. When he blood-bonded me, secrets even I didn’t know about myself came to light.
Secrets that will pull us both deep into the eternal war between vampires and the witches determined to rid the world of their evil.
We have only one choice now: fight the forces hell-bent on breaking our bond…
Or die.
3 out of 5 (good)
Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!
I have *issues* with this book.
Aside from the fact its single person point of view and blah blah blah of course I wanted to hear from Warin, Olivia has to be the single most annoying main character I have ever come across and I cannot,for the life of me figure out why I kept reading!!
She whines and moans and has the mental age of a teenager, I wasn't actually sure how old she was supposed to be til she and Warin are talking about how old he is.
Clearly, the British vampire  Night Lord who's name escapes me already, is playing on a much bigger playground than just Chicago. And Warin's brother, Aleric, is part of that playground judging by the epilogue, but I can't see what game he is playing.
The book is reasonably well written, with some sexy scenes and some violence, but nothing too explicit or graphic. I saw no spelling or editing errors.
Will I read book two? Depends on who has the majority voice in that one. If it's Aleric? Possibly.
I just did not like Olivia!
But I did finish it, so for that reason...
3 stars
 Sorry this is short, but I find the 3 star ones for meh books the hardest to write.
