Will a centuries-old broken heart ruin the promise of new love?
Dominic Ashworth is descended from a long line of witches, although the family practice of witchcraft died out generations ago. Forever connected to a dark history, the house he grew up in remained in the Ashworth family for generations until his estranged father sold it.
On a mission to check out the new owners, Dominic runs into Caleb Jones and gives the gorgeous man his phone number—but getting a date should be the last thing on Dominic’s agenda.
Caleb and his best friend, Zach Briceworth, are oblivious to the heartache and magic tied to the foundations of their new home. When strange things start to happen, the truth emerges and surprises them both, especially as everything revolves around Caleb’s new love interest.
After a shaky start, Caleb and Dominic settle into an easy relationship, falling faster than either of them expected. But with Halloween approaching, the possibility of danger increases. The past is not always as it seems, and the ripples of a tragic event threaten to put an end to everything between them.
4 out of 5 (very good)
All Hallows' Eve tells the sad story of a man turned bad due to restrictions of attitude and time. Isaac has the unpleasant job of sending his brother, Alexander, to 'the other side' in an attempt to stop any further deaths. Isaac gets a protection mark, which will prevent Alexander from retaliating in any way, and ensures that all future generations must get the mark too.
Fast forward a few years, and the farmhouse where the original event took place, has been sold. The will of the mother states that it must be sold to someone of their bloodline though. Dominic and Alice are informed after the event, by their estranged father who doesn't believe in any of what he was told by his wife. Dominic and Alice do believe though, and they need to ensure that whoever is living there has the mark of protection. This leads to Dominic meeting Caleb, and sparks are instantaneous. Just how will Dominic explain everything to Caleb though, without sounding completely crazy?
This isn't a horror story, it is a sad, tender, tale with an amount of heebie-jeebies as a bonus. Dominic and Caleb move very quickly, but the rest of the story is incredibly well paced. With mystery, romance, a cute black kitten, and an amazing supporting cast, this is a story to enjoy and relish.
I loved how Alexander's story came out. He is not 'evil' as such, but is definitely an anti-hero. Isaac is his brother, the good guy, in the story. He doesn't do it without reservations, and has to live with the results.
A wonderful story, with romance, action in and out of the sheets, plus a HEA in more ways than one, I have no hesitation in recommending this to everyone.
