RELEASE BLITZ, REVIEW & #GIVEAWAY - Deliverance by L A Cotton & Jenny Siegel Release

Title: Deliverance (The Maverick Defense Series #1)
Authors: L A Cotton & Jenny Siegel
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: March 1st 2016

Joy Mathers has spent the last three years numb. From her past, her present, and her inevitable future. She was supposed to escape the deadbeat town of Chancing, but now it’s her prison, and she couldn’t leave…even if she wanted to.

For the last two years, Dawson Spencer has been holed up in some of the worst corners of the world. He's seen things no man should ever see, and thought nothing could ever shock him. Until he returns to Chancing and discovers everything has changed in the town he once called home.

He thought Joy was away pursuing her dreams. She thought Dawson was never coming back. And while their connection might still be there, Joy isn't Dawson's anymore, and it would be better—safer—for everyone if he walked away. But walking away isn’t an option for Dawson, not this time.

He gave up everything to protect her once … and he’ll do it again

4 out of 5 (very good)

Joy has been left behind, through circumstances beyond her control. What was once her home now feels like her prison. She is not just the innocent victim though, she has made choices, bad ones, and now she is living with the consequences. Even with that being so, you can't help but feel sorry for her and the situation she is in. As the story progresses you find out more about how she ended up where she is, and why she reacted the way she did.

You get told that Joy and Dawson has this amazing connection, but I'm afraid for me, it just never felt right. Dawson takes the word of his father that Joy has moved on - this is the same father that tells him not to bother coming home or to contact his family anymore. That just seemed unacceptable to me as a reader, but Joy seemed okay with it! The other thing is that Donnie and Dawson actually show quite a lot of similarities - including how Dawson tells Joy what she is allowed to do, and she goes along with it - making excuses over why she is, but still goes along with it.

This is a darkish and gritty romance suspense that deals with abuse and prostitution (by any other name). With an interesting storyline and characters, this was a very good read that I enjoyed and would recommend.

* I received this book from the authors in return for a fair and honest review. *
