BLOG TOUR & #GIVEAWAY - Dancing In The Athenian Rain by Katie Hamstead

Book & Author Details:

Dancing In The Athenian Rain by Katie Hamstead
Publication date: September 9th 2015
Genres: New Adult, Romance, Time-Travel

When Donna is sent back in time to Classical Athens, she’s furious at Dr. Stephens for sending her against her wishes. Then a Greek soldier purchases her to be his wife.
She’s forced to learn a new language and culture and faces her fears of never returning to her own time. The society hates her, especially because they think she’s an Amazon, which forces her to confront her issues—being compared to her genius brother, borderline abusive friends, and a cheating boyfriend.

But her husband, Peleus, is kind and patient. He counters all the negative voices from her past, but those voices drive a wedge between them. She must let go of her fears, her inhibitions, and insecurities, and admit her feelings, or she could lose him and the life they’ve built.

The sun burns my skin. It drags me out of sleep. I must have left my curtains open. Slowly it dawns on me that I'm lying on a hard surface. I remember what happened. I sit up, glancing around the rooftop. Where am I? It's warm and humid. The building is made of... clay maybe? A bag sits beside me, the strap looped around my hand. I pull the zipper open to see what's inside. Some clothes and a flashlight. There’s a note that reads:
Learn about the people, Donna. Meet them, talk to them. Enjoy yourself while I find a way to stabilize the portal and bring you back. By the way, in the bag there is a translation dictionary I compiled for you. I hope it helps. Be safe. Dr. Stephens.
I scrunch up the paper and curse at him.
I dig into the bag and pull out the notebook at the bottom. He listed words in English first, then in a phonetic translation, followed by... what is it? The script looks familiar, especially since some letters are the same as English, but I'm not sure what language I'm looking at.
I glance around at the foreign world, frightened. I know Dr. Stephens can do amazing things. I mean, he made a teleportation devise oncealthough admittedly it only teleported half an object at a time. But sending me back in time? This is impossible. It has to be some kind of prank - even though it all looks pretty real.
I sit on top of a flat roof of a building built, I can now see, from compressed mud and clay. Behind the building lies a small yard with a garden containing a variety of vegetables. The sound of whispering catches my attention. Two women stare at me through a wooden hatch door. Wearing my shorts and tank top, I feel exposed, so grab the bag and hold it up to cover me.
They seem to approve of this gesture and smile, talking to me, but I can't understand a word they say. I finger at the notebook. Would it be acceptable for me to look at it? The women talk too fast for me to catch individual words anyway.
They help me down from the roof and change me into some of their clothes. Now I wear a long dress with rough fabric that ties at the waist. I'm definitely in the ancient world, but where exactly?

Born and raised in Australia, Katie’s early years of day dreaming in the “bush”, and having her father tell her wild bedtime stories, inspired her passion for writing.

After graduating High School, she became a foreign exchange student where she met a young man who several years later she married. Now she lives in Arizona with her husband, daughter and their dog.

She has a diploma in travel and tourism which helps inspire her writing.

When her debut novel, Kiya: Hope of the Pharaoh, climbed into bestselling status, she believed she was onto something, and now has a slew of novels now available, and is published through Curiosity Quills Press, Soul Mate Publishing, and REUTS Publishing.

Katie loves to out sing her friends and family, play sports, and be a good wife and mother. She now works as an Acquisitions Editor to help support her family. She loves to write, and takes the few spare moments in her day to work on her novels.
