5 out of 5 (exceptional)

I honestly don't know which of these male leads I prefer - shy and sexy Spencer who has been hurt in the past, or self-confident and sexy Emilio who know what he wants and isn't afraid to go for it. Did I mention that they were both sexy?!

The thing I love about Cardeno C's books is that they all have a story. There are steaming hot scenes too, but the overall arc that flows from story to story is romance. I love that! These two may not suit each other at first glance, but the story that has been written for them, is perfect!

The story moves along at a steady pace, making the connection between Spencer and Emilio both believable and strong, even when it seems fast. It is well written with no grammatical errors that I found. And each scene is exceptionally easy to imagine, whether it is the layout of Spencer's house or the day with Emilio's family.

Another fantastic book that I thoroughly enjoyed! Highly recommended.

Something in the Way He Needs

Cover - somethinginthewayheneeds
Controlled Asher didn't expect to fall for free-spirited Daniel, but they'll find what they desperately need in one another.
Police captain Asher Penaz’s staunch professionalism bleeds into his home life, down to his neatly pressed attire and spartan apartment. He enjoys being in charge and in control, so his sudden and powerful attraction to the lighthearted, free-spirited Daniel Tover throws him for a loop. In his entire life, Daniel has never gotten what he needs, so he moves to the next place, the next job, the next attempt to find something worth staying for, always landing at the top of his game, but never feeling like he belongs.
The chemistry between Asher and Daniel sizzles, but with all that fire comes the risk of getting burned. As both men struggle to learn themselves while getting to know each other, the lines of desire and control blur. If Daniel and Asher can walk through the flames together, they might find what they desperately need.

Ash and Daniel's story really is about opposite's attracting, and changes made that can alter a person completely. Although Ash comes across quite abrasive at times, Daniel seems to be the only one who can handle that easily. Daniel is no pushover though, it's just his is a more 'quiet' strength than Asher. The chemistry between these two is unmistakable and makes for some hot reading.

There are nice bits, sexy bits, lump in your throat bits and bits that will leave you shaking your head at the actions of these characters. You will feel every emotion as Cardeno puts you through your paces.

Well written as always, dipping a toe into BDSM but going no further, this is a book to savour and enjoy again and again. Highly recommended.

4 out of 5 (very good)

This book is Chase's story and is set out differently to the others. It is done more as a commentary, as Chase sits at the table scrapbooking, but to find out the whole story, you have to read through the book. It is an interesting way of telling a story and one that I was intrigued with.

I enjoyed the story itself, although not as much as Strong Enough or Something In The Way He Needs. However, that is definitely not saying that this book isn't a good read, because it is. You get details from Adan, Scott and Chase as the book progresses, making it easy to see how their relationships worked.

Another great read in the Family Series, definitely recommended.

The Half of Us

Cover - thehalfofus
If short-tempered Jason can open his heart and life to optimistic Abe, he might finally find the family he craves.
Short-tempered, arrogant heart surgeon Jason Garcia grew up wanting a close-knit family, but believes he ruined those dreams when he broke up his marriage. The benefit of divorce is having as much random sex as he wants, and it's a benefit Jason is exploiting when he meets a sweet, shy man at a bar and convinces him to go home for a no-strings-attached night of fun.
Eight years living in Las Vegas hasn't dimmed Abe Green's optimism, earnestness, or desire to find the one. When a sexy man with lonely eyes propositions him, Abe decides to give himself a birthday present—one night of spontaneous fun with no thoughts of the future. But one night turns into two and then three, and Abe realizes his heart is involved.
For the first time, Abe feels safe enough with someone he respects and adores to let go of his inhibitions in the bedroom. If Jason can get past his own inhibitions and open his heart and his life to Abe, he might finally find the family he craves.

4 out of 5 (very good)

Jason is a heart surgeon, arrogant in his own capabilities and looks but oh so insecure in other ways, ways he doesn't even realise. He meets Abe, they have a one night stand as per Jason's rules, and then they go their merry way, never to meet again. There's just one problem with that. Jason can't stop thinking about Abe.

This story was a delight to read - whether it was the hot and smexy bedroom/kitchen/living room scenes or whether it was a lunch date with Jason's ex-wife, the intensity of the emotions was there all the way. You laughed when they laughed, you felt your heart twinge at Jason's cluelessness as he tries to find his way in the dark and do the 'right' thing. You will probably be amazed (as I was) with Abe's quiet strength and how he knows which battles to fight and which to leave.
