Book & Author details:

Crossing the Ice by Jennifer Comeaux
(Ice #1)
Publication date: August 2nd 2014
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult

Synopsis:

Falling hard never felt so good.

Pair skaters Courtney and Mark have one shot left at their Olympic dream. They vow not to let anything get in their way, especially not Josh and Stephanie, the wealthy and talented brother and sister team.

The heart doesn’t always listen to reason, though…

The more time Courtney spends with sweet, shy Josh, the harder she falls for him. But they are on opposite sides of the competition, and their futures are headed in opposite directions. Will their friendship blossom into more or are their paths too different to cross?

This is the first book in the ICE series. The series continues with book #2, LOSING THE ICE.

*I Received a copy of this book from Xpresso in exchange for a fair and honest review.*

Just the book I need to read! It’s sweet, charming, competitive, and heartwarming.  This story is a fun read and has a great story line.  It feels realistic and natural.  The story flows well and reads as if something you might read about regarding an actual Olympic skating pair.

Competition between two people can be enough to make someone bitter rivals for no apparent reason other than they both are extremely competitive.  In this story though it doesn’t just affect Courtney, it also affects her brother.  Are the feelings real or are they being faked as a distraction? Would it be possible to set aside the competition for love and set aside their relationship for the competition? It’s not something I would ever put myself through.

The one thing I appreciated in the story was the way that the author is trying to showcase the power of love.  It has the power to destroy and also has the power to repair and mend broken hearts.  It also has the power of reason but that usually takes time, and that allotted time isn’t always available when it is needed.

I definitely enjoyed this book and look forward to her others in the series as well as any other books. If you enjoy reading about ice skating and romance then grab a copy!

  1. I love anything ice skating. I have seen the championships, where they don't even turn out the audience lights. Everything stays lit up. I love the Winter Olympics just for the ice skating. Yagyni(sic) from Russia was amazing.
