VIRTUAL BOOK TOUR, REVIEW & #GIVEAWAY - Bear Hearts by Tamara Hoffa

Bear Hearts

by Tamara Hoffa

Fate brought them together. Lies keep them apart. Love could set them free. All they need is to trust in Bear Hearts.

Fate has dealt bear shifter Martin Kruger and rotten hand. His destined mate, Dr. Elizabeth Montrose, is the enemy and suffers from a fatal illness. He‘s waited over two hundred years for a mate he might never have the chance to claim.

Elizabeth has long ago given up dreams of love, marriage and children. Her life is her research and now that is gone in a puff of smoke, thanks to the bears of Honey Corners. A tiny spark of hope blooms in her heart when the handsome bear tells her they are mates, but will that instinctual bond be enough to overcome all that stands between them?

“More shifter secrets that the lowly human can’t know. I get it.” Liz looked down at her lap. The tiny seed of hope turning to dust and blowing away in the wind. She looked up at Martin and felt such loss. He was a beautiful man. Tall and broad, with dark brown hair closely cropped to his head and deep chocolate eyes she could get lost in for hours. He obviously had great sense of loyalty and honor, traits she appreciated, and she’d seen humor and warmth flash in his eyes, though briefly.

As passionately as he defended his clan, or what was it he called it? Sippe? The fire that flared in his eyes when he was angry, Liz could just imagine that intensity turned into a different kind of passion. Turned into sexual passion, lust, maybe even love. To be the recipient of that would be amazing, but it would never be. Whether his goddess had deemed they were mates or not. Martin would never trust her and they would never be together.

Martin must have seen the change in her mood, he put his dinner aside and moved to sit on the side of the bed and took her in his arms. “Please leibchen, please try to understand.” His eyes pleaded with her. “Give me time. Give us a chance.” Then he kissed her. A real kiss this time. He took her mouth like a starving man, devouring her will to resist and she let him.

If this was all she’d ever have of him, she might as well take what she could get. As his tongue dueled with hers she allowed her hands to explore his upper body, sliding up his hard chest, over his broad shoulders and down his bulging biceps. She couldn’t get enough, wanted more, needed him closer.

4 out of 5 (very good)

Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

I received this book from Goddess Fish Promotions in return for a fair and honest review.

This is the second book in the series although it can be read as a standalone (as I have) without losing any of the enjoyment from it.

Bear Hearts tells the tale of Martin and Elizabeth, fated mates that are on opposite sides... or are they? I loved how Martin is quick to jump on Elizabeth's lack of trust in him but is also man enough - or should that be bear enough - to admit that he hasn't actually told her anything about himself or the bears in order to earn that trust.

The characters in this book are all strong and likeable and from just this book alone, I would like to see at least 3 more characters get their stories but then I'm greedy like that.

A well-written plot with no holes, good continuation and filled with passion and humour. That makes for a good combination in my book. Definitely recommended.

The Importance of Book Covers

Everyone’s heard the old saw, “Don’t judge a book by its cover,” but I think we’re all guilty of doing just that. I know that an eye-catching cover is one of the first things that draws me to a book. If the cover is amateurish or boring, I assume the book will be also.

Obviously, that is not always the case, and we all have different ideas as to what makes a book cover great. What draws you to a book cover? Do you like bold color? A hot shirtless man? What about the new trend of using objects on romance covers instead of models?

Personally, I’m very picky about my covers. I work with a fantastic cover artist, Dawne Dominique and I know I drive her nuts sometimes. However, she always seems to get my vision perfectly in the end. The women is a genius!

One of my pet peeves is cover models that don’t fit the characters in the book. If I read a BBW (big beautiful woman) book and the cover has a thin model, I’m mad. If the hero has a beard in the book, he better have one on the cover, etc. I like accuracy.

I want my covers to be sensual, but not explicit. Most of my books are 4 flame rated, but you won’t see half-naked females on the covers. Shirtless men, yes, but no nakies! You have to keep a little mystery.

I love bold color and different looks. One of my covers, A Special Kind of Love, won Honorable Mention in the 2013 RONE awards from InDTale magazine. Up until the Animal in Me series, it was my favorite cover.

I still love it, but the masterpieces Dawne created for the Animal in me series rocked my world! I have received so many compliments on the Hers to Bear cover and now Bear Hearts, it has just been phenomenal.

My daughter, Cat is an artist, and while I can’t draw stick people, I have learned a lot about art from watching her grow in her field. And believe me creating book covers is an art.
The e-book industry is flourishing and as an author you are competing against millions of books readers have to choose from. You have to be able to stand out from the crowd. Be noticed. Just to get the reader to look at your book long enough to read the blurb and hopefully say. “Oh, that does sound good! I think I’ll buy it.”

Your book cover is the bait, the blurb is the hook and the writing is the line that hopefully lands you the reader. I’m all about the fishing metaphors today!

Thanks for letting me stop by and give you my two cents. (That’s about all it’s worth)
