BOOK TOUR, REVIEW & #GIVEAWAY - Confessions of a Virgin Sex Columnist! by Kay Marie

Confessions of a Virgin Sex Columnist!

Release Date: 05/18/15

Summary from Goodreads:

From bestselling author Kaitlyn Davis, writing as Kay Marie, comes a new adult romantic comedy about a girl who'll soon discover that some secrets can't be kept forever, especially those of the heart.

My name is Skylar Quinn, I just moved to New York with my best friend Bridget, and I have a confession. Well, more than one. Okay, quite a few really. Fine, here goes!

Confession #1: I'm a sex columnist. Hold on, that's not really the confession. You see, I'm sort of a virgin...sex columnist.

Confession #2: I'm in love with Bridget's older brother, Oliver. No—I was. No—I am. Wait, was? Am? Crap.

Confession #3: I've been avoiding Oliver for four years. Or I was until today, because he just moved in. Yes, you read that correctly. He's my new roommate. So that night we've both been pretending never happened, well, we might not be able to keep it a secret any longer.

And trust me, this is only the beginning.

Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

I received this book from YA Bound Book Tours in return for a fair and honest review.

Skylar Quinn is not your average qualified guru on provide advice on sex.  In fact, she gets her advice from her best friend Bridget.  As Skylar gets the chance at having her very own column her world starts to implode.  Her only love, who pushed her away when she professed her feeling, Ollie, is now living with her and her best friend, Bridget.  This ignites a whole new set of problems but sets up for an interesting column to write. What will happen when Skylar is forced to face Ollie? How will Skylar’s journalism career work out?

This book definitely starts off fun, spunky, and interesting.  I really enjoyed the general idea of the book. I definitely fall more into the category of people that Skylar is associated with so I could relate to her.  The book is flirty at times and is quite hilarious in other spots.  It’s definitely a light hearted read, which is a nice break!

I have a few issues with the book.  It starts to drag a little bit towards the middle to the end.  It’s not that is a bad story, because the story is still fun, it just kind of loses its momentum.  Also, I would have appreciated a little bit more detail in the story about the characters and the surroundings! I didn’t feel I was able to “disappear” into Skylar’s world as much as I would have hoped. These two things were a disappointment to me, but I still enjoyed the overall story.

About the Author

I've always been a writer. I grew up duct taping my novels together, started writing complete manuscripts in high school and studied creative writing at Johns Hopkins University. Upon graduating, I decided it was finally time to actually give my dream career a chance. So, of course, I started writing a young adult paranormal romance series -- and no, I'm not jumping on the bandwagon. I've been a true paranormal supporter for my entire life! I blame my obsession almost completely on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, my all-time favorite television show. And, before you ask: Yes, I own every season... even the post WB ones! I especially challenge anyone to watch the first three seasons and not fall in love with Angel, securing a lifelong love of vampires! Other culprits of my paranormal obsession are some of my favorite authors: JK Rowling, Raymond Feist, Meg Cabot, Richelle Mead, Lynne Ewing and Tamora Pierce.
