VIRTUAL BOOK TOUR, REVIEW & #GIVEAWAY - Drawn Together by Amelia Swan

Drawn Together

by Amelia Swan

BLURB:

Hailey Sommers is only home from New York for a few months. So when she reconnects with the one guy she can't forget, will she be able to walk away...again?

Hailey can’t wait to get back to New York City. There she’s a hip children’s book author with a healthy social life. Being back in her hometown of Medford only reminds her of the less-than-cool girl she used to be. Until she runs into Cody, her old partner-in-crime in high school art and the boy she lusted after all four years.

Cody West has everything he could want in Medford, except Hailey. When she left for the big city, there was a hole in his life no other girl could fill. But he’s not sure he wants to open himself to the pain if she leaves again.

A chance encounter at the town coffee shop reignites the chemistry between the pair and is almost enough to make Hailey forget how much she wants to return to the city she’s grown to love. Almost. Wanting it all, Hailey plans to bring Cody back to New York with her. The only catch is that she’s not sure he’ll agree…

4 out of 5 (very good)

Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

I received this book from Goddess Fish Promotions in return for a fair and honest review.

Hailey and Cody had four years of flirting and one final night of fun, pleasure, and romance before Hailey went to New York. She has graduated and returned home to finish her first book. She never thought she would run into Cody. Cody and Hailey have feelings for one another that neither have expressed towards each other and have spent the last four years kicking their selves for doing so! Will this surprise reunion bring the happily ever after?  New York is waiting for Hailey, but is there really a need to return? Is Medford able to provide her what she needs to write?

This book was a fun, flirty, sexy read. The love story between Hailey and Cody was sweet and fun.  It showcased what so many people experience, the attraction of another without expressing it and possibly losing out on a great relationship for not speaking up.  I definitely loved how Hailey was incredibly supportive of Cody’s artwork and tried to make him see just what exactly he was capable of. There was some incredible raw emotion between the two of them. They shared passion for each other and for drawing and that was a fun part to read.

This book definitely did not lack the descriptive, hot sex scenes.  They definitely weren’t lacking in their bedroom behavior. They were young and fun and that carried over to the bedroom scenes. You might need to take a few cold showers thanks to the author’s incredible writing. I don’t think I can look at a cupcake the same again. That was such a fun scene to read!

This book did not have a final closure. There are still questions up in the air about Hailey and Cody and I hope that means that the author plans on releasing a continuation of their story. It is not a cliffhanger for those of you out there that hate them! There is some closure just not complete. There are still questions as to what will happen between the two of them and what will happen for each one individually!

He parted his lips, pausing before he spoke as if he wasn’t sure if he should say what was on his mind. “I think about you sometimes.”

My heart stopped. Cody West had been thinking about me. Outwardly, I suppressed my reaction to his confession, trying to play it cool. On the inside, I was freaking out. Raising an eyebrow, I rested my chin in my hand. “Really? What about?”

Cody laughed, taking a big bite out of his cookie. “We’ve had some fun together.”

I pursed my lips as I tried to decide whether or not he was referring to all of the goofing off we did in art class or the night of the graduation party. Cody and I had only been acquaintances in school. We ran in different social circles: he hung out with the football team and I spent all of my time with Callie, my best friend, my only friend back then. Though we had fun together in class, we never spent time together outside of the art room...until we ran into each other at Jessica Mitchell’s.

A Day in the Life - by Amelia Swan

Primarily, I like to think of myself as a writer. However, since I’m still a new writer, I have a few part-time jobs to help pay the bills. This means that I have a different schedule every single day, which I love. The monotony of doing the same exact thing every weekday was one of the things I disliked about being a high school English teacher.
My mornings are basically all the same. I feed my cat and dog as soon as I wake up. The cat wouldn’t have it any other way. Most times he’ll try to wake my husband or me up at the crack for dawn for his breakfast. After my little boys are fed, I make a green smoothie for me and my husband. If he has to go into the office that day, I’ll drive him to the train station.
From there, anything can happen. Depending upon the day, I might have to teach a college-level writing class, visit with pets whose owners are at work or on vacation, hold a test prep tutoring session, or teach ballet. Between whatever I job I’m working that day, I always squeeze in a walk with my dog and some form of exercise for myself. I’m big into yoga and lifting weights, but I get a couple cardio sessions in on my bike a couple times a week too.
And then there’s my writing. I write whenever I can during the day. If I get to work early, I’ll write a little bit. If I have an hour long break in the middle of the day, I’ll sit down with my laptop to write. Some days I get more work done than others.

At night, my husband and I eat dinner together. After, we’ll settle on the couch together with our laptops. He plays games, and I write until I decide I’m ready for bed. I try to squeeze in some writing every day, even if I only get a paragraph typed up.
