Josh North is UFC’s Light Heavyweight Champion—but he’s about to meet his match.

Sophie Garner is a single mom who’s been raising her daughter on her own, fighting for both of their lives ever since going into hiding to escape her abusive husband.

When Sophie gets offered the job of a lifetime as the exclusive massage therapist for Josh “The Jackhammer” North’s team, it’s difficult to say no to the outrageous salary—and the bet—that Josh proposes. But for Sophie it’s a risk that could cost a lot more than just her heart – if she’s found, it could cost her her life.

Should she dare?

Josh wants to break through Sophie’s fortified walls, but is unwilling to put the jackhammer to his own and reveal his secrets and the side of him few have ever known or seen. To do that, he’ll have to confront the darkness of his past.

Will he dare?

by Debbie

Josh is a UFC champion, a part time fireman and all round tough guy. When he saves a child from a fire, he finds himself, flat on his front with the most exquiste hands upon his body. When Josh gets to finally see who those hands belong to, he offers Sophie, he offers her an opportunity to set herself and her daughter up for some time.

But noth Sophie and Josh have secrets, life threatening secrets. Do they dare act on the chemistry that is clearly between them??

I gather, from reading other reviews, that this is a spin off, and I haven't read that one, the True North sereis. But I dont think it matters. I didn't feel like I missed anything. In fact after reading this one, I wanna go back and read those now too.

Josh comes across all tough but Sophie brings out the softer side of him, and her daughter brings him to his knees. Sophie is hiding from her abusive ex and tries to keep Josh at a distance. He is, after all, her employer, and it doesn't do well to have a workplace romance.

But Josh and Sophie are menat for each other. What I particularly liked about this, is that althought the attraction is instant, it smoulders away, bubbling and simmering under the surface for a large part of the book. Their feelings grow and develop over time, at a pace that is perfect for these two.

I gave it four stars for one reason, and one only: first person, present tense, multiple POV. I'm gonna have to get over my aversion to this trend, its coming over more and more, but I cant see it happening JUST yet.

4 stars

  1. Debbie, Thank you for the thoughtful and expressive review! I'm so happy you enjoyed Dare! I had to giggle at the 4 star reason. The True North books are written in past tense (so maybe if you read them I'll get that 5 ;) ). I
