REVIEW, BLOG TOUR & GIVEAWAY - Transformed by E.V. Fairfall

Book & Author details:

Transformed by E.V. Fairfall
Publication date: January 1st 2014
Genres: Paranormal, Romance, Young Adult

Synopsis:

Thea, all-mighty Mother Earth, only had one rule to follow above all else, one promise to keep to her brother: never take a human form. She would’ve kept that promise if it weren’t for Brice. He’s handsome and confident, but above all he’s merciless.

He’s also a hunter who has tormented Thea for years. She believes if she could teach Brice compassion, she might finally be able to save her creations and herself from his savage ways. Then she meets Chamber: another hunter.

She soon finds herself fascinated by−and torn between−the two boys: Brice and Chamber. Lost within a torrent of human emotions, Thea starts to lose who she is as she falls in love with the one thing that she’s always hated: a hunter… a human.

3 out of 5 (liked it)

I received this book from Xpresso Book Tours as part of their blog tour in return for a fair and honest review.

This book has given me a quandary because there are parts of it that I really enjoyed and others parts not so much. Let me see if I can explain.

Thea and her brother are basically Mother Earth and God (to start with) although God has banned Mother Earth from ever assuming a human shape even though she can take the form of any animal. Now Thea comes across as being very immature for saying she's supposed to have been around for how many thousands of years. Even if she was an animal, I would have thought she'd have more of a clue! Unless, of course, you're part of the animals are dumb category which is the opposite of what this book is trying to say. God comes across as being a pain in the ass, know it all but I'll say no more on that!

Thea has found herself trapped in the same place for years and years. Whenever she is killed, she always returns here. So her plan is to make "Brice" fall in love with her, shoot her when she's a deer, she changes back to human, he is sorry, all done. Got that? Yeah, I had a bit of difficulty getting my head around that too.

Now Brice is a thoroughly unpleasant character with absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever. He is rude, arrogant, completely narcissistic so the idea of him loving anyone apart from himself is just ludicrous.

Enter Chamber - he is Brice's cousin and basically his opposite. Chamber is everything that Thea hoped Brice would be and so ends up falling for him. In the synopsis, it sounds like there's a love triangle going on but really there's not.

Now, the plot moves along at a steady pace although it is a bit slow to start with. The characters are all well-written, whether you like them or not.

The ending between Thea and Chamber is perfect for the book although you are left with other answers that seem to be hanging. On the whole, this was an intriguing read.

AUTHOR BIO:

I love to write just as much as I love to read. I try to read a book per week, which doesn’t always work out, but it’s the thought that counts. Aside from all that I am a huge animal person.

Transformed is my first novel, but it isn’t my first publication; I’ve had several short stories published over the last two years. My main goal as a writer is to explore humanity and to give people something fun to read.
