New Release - Freakn' Cougar by Eve Langlais

Freakn' Cougar

Forget taming their cougar. These young studs want her as is, even if she scratches.

Someone’s killing shifters in prison, and Patricia needs help catching the culprit. The cougar enlists the help of Stu and Ricky, a techno geek and a reformed criminal, a mismatched pair, who turn out to also be her mates. But Patricia’s already loved and lost one man. Does she dare allow herself to care again?
Older isn’t just wiser, it’s sexier, or at least that’s what a socially challenged wolf and a bad boy panther think. Forced to work together to catch a killer, Stu and Ricky soon find out they’ll have to learn to do more than tolerate each other when they realize a hot forty-something feline is their mate. Can they find a way to work together and make their cougar purr?

Fallen by Stacy Claflin

**** out of 5 (really liked it)

I got this book free from in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Novella, Young Adult, Paranormal

Is love enough to make a bad vampire turn good?

Samantha Erikson is a vampire with one mission: to rule the world. She’s spent decades winning over the world’s most feared vampire, Vince Moretti. Just when everything is going according to plan, he sidetracks her with the assignment of pretending to be a high school student in a small town.

It’s humiliating enough going from stilettos to sneakers, but Samantha must also follow the most boring person alive: the teenage girl who stands between her and the throne. When she has had all she can take, she finds a fun distraction: an attractive football player who isn't scared of vampires, but there's one problem. Against her better judgment, she falls in love with him. Now she must decide between the mortal she adores and a place of power in the vampire world. If she tries to have both, she could lose everything.

This is the prequel to the Transformed series - it can be read independently from the series.

This is a prequel to a series that I haven't read but based on this novella, it is now on my t-b-r list.  It has left me with enough questions that need answering and the only way I'll get answers is to read the books.  Still not 100% sure why 'Alexis' needs to be got rid off or why she is so fully ignored by everyone.  Samantha is a vampire who prefers fear-laced blood as it tastes sweeter.  Until she meets, and gets to know, Tanner.  Then she finds that love-laced blood tastes just as good.

This is a prequel and a novella so please bear that in mind - it is not a complete story but enough to give you some background and to irk your interest.  As a taster for a new series and with a background story that I'm sure will make more sense once the series is read, then I can definitely recommend this.  It's certainly left me wanting more so in my book that's mission accomplished.

Hi Honey...

... I'm home!!!

Did you miss me?

I learnt a valuable lesson this holiday and that's that no matter how well-intentioned you are, how well-organised with charging your Kindle, taking your charger etc with you, filling your Kindle with books that you want to read - when you are on holiday (even for just a week) and living out of a suitcase because you're stopping over here one night and then there the next night, you just CAN'T get any reading done!!!

I completed one book which was a bit 'meh' and started and finished another which was quite amusing and light.  That was a good book to read as it took absolutely no brain power and didn't take long to read.  I tried to start one that came up on my Kindle with a loooong reading time.  I started it, I really did.  Then I realised 3 days later that I was still reading the first few pages and I still couldn't remember anything.  So I've left that one for when the routine for my girls kicks back in and I get my reading time at night back.

I'll be back with those reviews soon, as well as some of the archive reviews.  How about you though?  How were your holidays?  Did you get any reading done or even better, were you bought any new books for Christmas?

In the meantime, I hope you all had wonderful celebrations and are having a good 2014 so far.

Take care and happy reading.
